    Job Overview:

    General Labourers work in construction, manufacturing or other physically demanding jobs such as cleaning and landscaping. 

    General labourers may be asked to complete a wide range of tasks. Below are some of the examples but not limited to it:

     

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Sweeping
    • Mopping and general housekeeping
    • Operating a pallet jack 
    • Manual handling of material and manual dexterity 
    • Assist trades on site with other duties and follow directions from the site supervisor.

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of some basic hand tools
    • Basic knowledge of math 
    • Must own PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, steel toe boots); other PPE such as glasses, half-face or full-face mask, gloves will be preferred. 
    •  Must be physically fit (able to lift and move 50 lbs over 100 meters). 
    •  Preferably has a basic tool belt.
    • Must be safety conscious. 
    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

    Job Overview:

    Semi-skilled labour are workers who have a significant amount of work experience in the industry. They are equipped with intermediate skills such as using Jackhammer, Vacuuming, Pressure washing etc. 

    In addition to that, they are Fall Protection trained, can identify scaffolding types, have experience using ladders safely and are fit-tested which comes with own half facemask.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    •   Sweeping
    •   Digging 
    •   Operating a wheelbarrow and dollies
    •   Manual handling of material
    •   Acting as a spotter for equipment 
    •   Jackhammering 
    •   Dewatering
    •   Vacuuming (changing bags, filters, create a dustless environment)
    •   Pressure washing
    •   Operating a leaf blower, gas and electric
    •   Aware of steel stud framing, wood framing-able to assist in cutting
    •   Aware of drywall procedures
    •   Assist with insulation
    •   Assist in painting preparation
    •   Assist in waterproofing
    •   Knowledge of basic hand tools and some power tools
    •   Experience in measuring with a tape measure and snapping lines using a chalk line
    •   Assist in demolition

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of hand tools
    • Intermediate knowledge of math

    Job Overview:

    Skilled labourers are workers who perform tasks independently without being supervised. People who perform skilled labour are equipped with advanced skillsets and take initiatives by thinking outside the box.

    • Demolition, cement finishing, concrete restoration, and stripping forms. 
    • Assists in steel stud framing, wood framing, drywall procedures, painting preparation, insulation, and waterproofing. 
    • Operate equipment on construction site, work from heights and in confined spaces (only if trained and certified). 
    • Digging, operating a wheelbarrow and dollies. 
    • Sweeping, vacuuming, dewatering, pressure washing, operating a leaf blower, and other general site cleanup. 
    • Manual handling of material
    • Acting as a spotter for equipment 
    • Counterbalanced forklift-certified (other equipment upon request-we certify our workers in majority of mobile and aerial equipment)
    • Jackhammering

    • Installs insulation and vapour barrier
    • Assist in waterproofing

    Requirements

    • Must have at least 1+ year experience on commercial construction sites
    • Knowledge of hand tools and power tools
    • Extensive knowledge of math 
    • Ability to work independently, unsupervised.
    • Knowledge in rigging and hand signals highly preferred.
    • Must own PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, steel toe boots); other PPE such as glasses, half-face or full-face mask, gloves will be preferred. 
    •  Must be physically fit (able to lift and move 50 lbs over 100 meters).

    Job Overview:

    Carpenters construct and repair building frameworks and structures—such as stairways, doorframes, partitions, and rafters—made from wood and other materials. They also may install kitchen cabinets, siding, and drywall.

    We are looking to hire a skilled Carpenter with knowledge of various carpentry techniques. You will be responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties will include designing, cutting, and measuring materials according to a client’s requirements.

    A successful applicant should be hardworking, reliable, and have good communication and organizational skills. You must have completed an apprenticeship in carpentry or have equivalent experience in the field.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
    • Assisting supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation.
    • Conduct repair work and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required.
    • Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials.
    • Ability to operate tools, machines, and other equipment.
    • Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding
    • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials
    • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
    • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
    • Instruct and direct labourers and other construction helpers

    Qualifications:

    • Education level: High School Graduation, Apprentice Carpenter courses
    • Experience: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or a minimum of four years’ experience as a journey-level carpenter. (preferred)

    Job Overview:

    A Construction Safety Officer refers to workers who ensure that construction workers are following established policies and safety regulations. Safety officers develop and implement policies to reduce the risk of accidents. They are also in charge of inspecting site conditions to determine if there is any potential hazard, in order to develop procedures and policies to overcome it. They know how to manage emergency situations. 

    Construction Safety Officers are fully competent and experienced safety professionals who hold a certification that guarantees their qualification for the role.

    • Inspect the site to ensure that it is safe
    • Review subcontractor’s safety plans 
    • Verify that tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use

    • Serves as the link between state and local agencies and contractors
    • Receives reports issued by the Department of Labor inspectors

    Job Overview:

    A Hoist and Elevator operator works in construction sites and operate stationary and mobile cranes, lifts, hoists and winches to lift, move and place materials, equipment and people in building sites. They must check the condition of the ground, looking for potential obstacles. They must be aware of the safe working limits of their crane to ensure that loads are not too heavy.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Operate controls to rotate cranes, move cranes on fixed rails, raise and lower booms
    • Hooks, raise, move and place loads
    • Monitor speed, acceleration and braking distances directly by signaling to other operators 
    • Monitor plant operation and equipment to detect malfunctions and problems
    • Lubricate ropes and winches
    • Replace worn cables

     

    Requirements

     

    The Hoist and Elevator operators may hold two different types of certificates:

    • Personnel Hoist and Construction Elevator Operator (PHCEO)
    • Car Switch and Construction Use Elevator Operator (CSOCEO)

     

    • Knowledge of mobile cranes, lifts, hoists and winches
    • Intermediate knowledge of math

    Traffic Control Person (TCP)

    Job Overview:

    A Traffic Control Person, also known as a flag person, refers to workers who stop, slow and safely direct the traffic through work or construction sites. Traffic Controllers regulate the traffic flow trying to get as few delays as possible. They give directions and signals clearly, so motorists understand how to proceed. Traffic Controllers also guarantee workers protection and ensure their safety.

     

    Traffic Controllers must have completed a training and hold a certificate which guarantee that they are competent to perform the required procedures to control traffic.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Move, slow and control the traffic
    • Communicate to motorists properly on how to proceed
    • Use hand signals, radios and other methods required to direct the traffic
    • Think ahead to provide indications to drivers at appropriate distances
    • Communicate to other Traffic control persons
    • Be aware of everything going around them
    • Guide cyclist and pedestrians safely through the zone 
    • Being focused on what they are doing and not getting distracted with anything else
